16 February 2012 Thursday, Day #1

INSANITY - tomorrow, Friday, after school. Any B-ball players or anyone at all who might be interested, Joshua is going to do the INSANITY workout after school in either my room or in the multi-purpose room. If you want to workout like crazy, come along. If you are in contact with any High school students, bring them along.

Period #3 History 7 and 8 - 
Test on Chapter 6 probably on Wednesday, February 22. My test.
We are reworking the History. There are very few Bela Tests until chapter 10, as a result I will not be concentrating on the studying of every bolded word and everything in italics. We will be more interested in the overall content and the big picture significance of each paragraph. Answers on quizzes will be geared more towards application, synthesis, comprehension and analysis.
Started working on 6.5 - A New World Empire. Summarize pages 65 - the bottom of page 66. 
History Questions on Chapter 6.5:
1. Explain what occurred in Greece that made it relatively easy for Philip to conquer southern Greece.
2. What were some advantages that the "country" of Macedon had over the Greeks?
3. How did Philip treat their conquered people?
4. Briefly describe Alexanders conquests.
5. How and why  did Alexander see himself as a "new Achilles"?
6. How do Aristotle, Hellenism and Alexander the Great all relate to each other?
7. What where and when was the Hellenistic Age?
8. Explain the final days of Alexander.
9. How was the empire divided after Alexander's death. 
10. Explain what is meant by the quote " Greek culture was better at destroying old beliefs than providing new ones".
 Home work.-  Read over the Beige/Brown Box and as you do, reflect on all of the information in this chapter that supports this summary.

Period #4 English Literature 7
We will look at the song "God of Justice" by two different artists.To show how two different people can see the same thing differently.
We started reading over the play with assigned parts.
Home Work: Complete the reading of Fires at Valley Forge. Become familiar with your part. 

Period #5 English Grammar 7 -We had winter carnival events for the afternoon.
Continued on the difference between verbs and verbals.

Period # 7 English Literature 8 - Lit. Quiz on critical thinking and point of view on Thursday, February 16. Paragraph form. 
Looked at articles from different perspectives.
