Period #3 History 7 - Map Quiz on Friday, September 16.
We went over the "Map" book again. We reviewed and then we talked about the Middle East and its countries. Be able to locate these countries and waterways on a map: Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Israel, Egypt, Syria. Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Kuwait, Jordan, The United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Palestine, Lebanon, Oman, Sudan, Cyprus, (You do not need to learn these but you should have an idea as they are so much on the news: Somalia, Ethiopia, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Libya.). Waterways: Mediterranean Sea, Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean, Red Sea, Black Sea, Caspian Sea, Tigris River, Euphrates River, Nile River, Suez Canal.
H.W.- Read Genesis Chapter 5. Study the countries for the map. You will have two nights to try to achieve the goal of learning them and their location on a map, then we will work on the waterways.
Period #4 English Literature 7 We doubled up on History today.
We discussed the ending of the story, "Mama and the Graduation Present". We talked about the concept of a "coming of age" story and I explained the plot and its parts. I drew it on the board and labelled it and then explained each part. Students should have notes on this.
H.W. - Answer questions #2 and 3 on page 5 from "Mama and the Graduation Present". Learn the parts of the plot. Be able to label a diagram of a plot.

Period # 6 Life Skills/Physical Education - I talked about conservative vs liberal, democrat vs republican, left vs right and capitalism and socialism. We listened to a song by Derek Webb (A Savior on Capital Hill)

We went over the answer for HW from Friday. We talked about conflicts and complications in the story "Mama and the Doctor's Wife". We examined unions and socialism again.
