September 07/11 Class Assignments

Remember to check with the board at school for updates as well.
READ THE BLOG EVERY NIGHT.
Period #1 English Grammar 8
I went over the course marking system and checked HW. We read the first half of the story "Mama and the Doctor's Wife"
Complete the reading of "Mama and the Doctor's Wife".

Period #3 History 7
We went over the marking system and the layout of the History text. We will go over the map book tomorrow and examine maps.
H.W.- Read Genesis Chapter 2.

Period #4 English Literature 7 Most students did not check the blog for their HW and did not have it completed properly - they did not have a topic to submit for Life Skills.
I checked home work.
We went over the marking scheme for the course. I introduced the text.  We started reading "Mama and the Graduation Present".
 H.W. - Complete the reading of "Mama and the Graduation Present".

Spelling - 1. Chronological, 2. endorse, 3. topographical, 4. excerpts, 5. redundant, 6. coax, 7. loftily, 8. academic, 9. enthrall, 10. superiority, 11. heirloom, 12. elocution. 13. grammar 14. objective 15. sigh 16. vernacular.
We went over the rules for formal writing. These were written on the board and should be applied to all formal writing in English 7/8.
H. W. - Spelling words 1-5. (Know how to spell each word, define each word and use each word in a sentence that shows the meaning of the word.)
Period # 6 Life Skills/Physical Education - We went over the student handbook again today.
Topics submitted by you - Recycling, How to save money, Congo/fair trade, Bowery Mission, euthanasia, friendship, perspectives, Atlantic/Guatemala,  Woman's Rights in China, stress, sign language, the power if influence, energy conservation, camping. I am sure that there are more topics. Please submit them at any time.
