09/05/2012 Wednesday, Day # 2

I have lunch duty all of this week. Extra help will be in the AM or after school. I can help you at noon if it is quiet downstairs - if it is a warm week, everyone will go outside.

 Period #1 Grammar 8
I handed back the quizzes. We went over the Pre-test for Direct Objects. I taught diagraming the Dir. Obj. Did digraming for Exercise "A" on 128. We checked these over and I assigned Ex. "A" on page 129.

Home Work -   Ex. "A" on page 129.

Period #3 History 7 + 8   We wrote the Quiz on Chapter 7.
We reviewed the Claudian Emperors and started the Flavian Emperors
HW:Questions 5, 6, and 7 on page 85.

Period #4 Literature 7Literature - We wrote a pop quiz on the characteristics of the ballad.
Looked at the types of rhyme - perfect, end rhyme, mid-rhyme, internal-rhyme, forced rhyme, visual rhyme. We also looked at rhyme pattern. Rhyme scheme.
HW: Switchfoot song "GONE". What words rhyme in "Gone"? Write them down in a row.


Period #5 Grammar 7  Life Skills today.
Grammar Quiz on predicate nominative and direct object is scheduled for Thursday., May 10.

Home Work - Diagram exercise "A" on page 112.  Study for your quiz on Pred. Nom. and Dir. Obj.
 
Period #6 -  .Physical Education.

Period #7 - Literature 8 
Literature 
From the poem," Summer" by the Afters, pick out three different figures of speech and literary devices. Make two comments on the diction of the poem.

HW:
Look for figures of speech and literary devices in Restless by Switchfoot. If you have the spare time, try to analyze the rest of the poem from where we left off. It is awesome.
